Derby Debauchery is in full force. While riding on the Belle of Louisville last night, I got insulted by the Mayor, set up Larry Birkhead with a local girl and creeped out some kids. All in a day’s work.
It’s the Steamboat Race tonight … but I hear they’re not really racing this year, just doing a series of tasks. Just don’t make me spill my julep, please.
Velcro Pygmies. 8 p.m. Waterfront Park. Word.
I feel sorry for Louisville livers this week … I know they’re being used and abused. I’m going for a 7-day streak.
Churchill Downs recently named its 2009 Chief Part Officer (CPO) for Kentucky Derby 135, and it wasn’t me. The Bar Belle never cries over spilt beer, however, so it’s onward and upward. So who is this CPO and is he worthy? Let’s find out.

So I’ll be bartending tonight at the first Waterfront Wednesday of the season. If you’re there, come say hello — I’ll be slinging in the liquor tent. Tonight’s lineup features Todd Snider, Extra Golden and Tony Furtado. As always, it’s free and starts around 5:30 p.m. on the Harbor Lawn at Waterfront Park.
